#7: Additional write and read routines

 Need to have Matlab interface to simple write and read routines as well as
 the routines we have now. Currently must open file, write, adppend…close.
 Also want routine to open file, write an object and then close , with the
 same dialogue prompt if no filename given – just like the dataset_1d
 write_ascii for example.
 Must have nexus and XML writes.
 TGP: The current write_nxs and read_nxs added on 29/11/06: shouldn't they
 be methods of the classes? Also why do they give the name 'nexus' to the
 entry made in the nexus file ? See discussion about names, entry_name
 elsewhere. Finally, is it necessary for read_nxs to be passed the type of
 object being read - surely the nexus file tells us the class?
