Comment (by Dean Whittaker):

 (In [966]) addresses #2 - fit should now work with all input parameters,
 changed documentation on the IXTdataset_2d and IXTdataset_1d to reflect
 the new options, also changed IXTdataset_2d to be a little faster in
 working out number of elements. I believe this is complete but have left
 open for now, I have yet to properly test.
