 (In [954]) addresses #2 - fit function has been extended to n dimensional
 case, 2 separate fit functions for IXTdataset_1d and IXTdataset_2d which
 then call the n dimensional general function. Also added gauss_fit_2d
 which is a function to fit a gaussian curve in 3 dimensions (though it is
 assumed only 2 spatial). This is used both in testing and adds to the
 library of known functions. Note that these are still INCOMPLETE and not
 properly tested as more functionality is required (namely setting ranges
 to fit between).
