 Should give an error and act accordingly

 TGP: Matlab should not have a return d2d, whereas one is returned. Is this
 a general problem ? The binding should have a way of knowing that Fortran
 operation was in error, so that it can act accordingly.

 DW: Discussed with DC, will be done in the Fortran

 Action Freddie: He says he needs to change bindings; to consult with
 Dickon.
