 creation of IXTunits(code) constructor which will populate IXTunits object
 from only a code -> ambiguity
 IXTunits(units) IXTunits(code,units) or IXTunits(code)

 options:
 1)IXTunits(units) could be IXTunits(1,'special')
 2)search against valid codes, user defined units cannot be same as fixed
 codes
 3)prefix defined codes with a marker eg $, and check first character and
 act accordingly
 4)IXTunits('u','user defined units')

 checking of units and synchronisation is possible by doing check in
 fortran

 emode/units_in/units_out consistency checking, each type of units must be
 in u_# array. IXFunits_get_len_arr

 period specification in homer command
 needs some thought
